The latest version of ISO 7029 is ISO 7029:2017, published in 2017."
The normal hearing threshold values vary across generations (cohorts). To maintain and enhance the validity of the standard as an international reference, it is essential to continuously incorporate new hearing threshold measurement data and replace outdated data.
In addition, expanding the age and frequency ranges covered by the standard is also important. In the forthcoming revision, the age range is planned to be extended to include individuals under 18 years, and the frequency range to be expanded up to 16 kHz.
The ISO working group responsible for drafting the standard, ISO/TC 43 (Acoustics)/WG 1 (Threshold of hearing), initiated work toward the next revision of ISO 7029 in 2024, with KURAKATA Kenji serving as the project leader.
